Basic Instructions for Posting / Reviewing Stories
This page deals with all the questions you might have concerning posting a story or a review,
so if you are confused what you should put where and what you shouldn't post, read this guide first.
Reviewing a story is often not easy, unless you just simply stating a "I liked it" or "Please update soon". All writers are of course happy to hear some sort of feedback, but nonetheless there are few things you should keep in mind, before reviewing.
So what's wrong with just a leaving a short "I liked your story, plz update soon" ? First of all rather then saying nothing at all, it's of course nice to hear that some read the story and liked it. But then again - anyone could post those remarks - even without reading the story.
In order to really make an author happy and reward him for sharing the story or in order to help him with some issues his writing may have, s/he would need a bit more input.
Saying what you liked about the story would be a good start (or what you did not for that matter). For example if you thought that the author hit one of the canon characters right on the end or if s/he hurried too fast through a scene, you mention it.
Where does constructive critism begin and where does it end? Of course fandom is something of a personal thing. It usually does not help very much, if you tell an author his characerisation sucked just because the canon in question ends up with the OFC instead of your prefered canon partner.
Of course that does not mean, you can't point out issues you have with how the canon acts toward the OFC, but instead of just saying "it sucked, he would never have sex with her that fast" you could point the author toward a incidents in canon why the character would not be that easy.
If you are too vague, you might only end up, making the author angry and less inclinded to consider your input. And if you absolutely have no clue why you feel the character would not do something, you can be honest enough to say "Gee, somehow him doing that feels wrong, but I can't say exactly why that is".
When it comes to pacing, mistakes etc and you really would like to help the author set matters straight, it would be best to ask the author to e-mail you or e-mail the author yourself, unless it's only a few tiny things.
Of course you also entitled to say that you did not like a story, please keep in mind, that it is only fair to tell the author what you did not like. Don't just put everything, give at least one or two examples . And no flames - let's be civil, you can do it!
The author has the option to delete all anonymous reviews, however should you register and continue with unuseful rants, nonsense statement and flames in your reviews, your reviews and your account will be deleted by the admin. I won't give those biased people and trolls out there no chance to discourage an author.

You are also welcome to provide a 700 x 200 px blend for any character that hasn't one yet.Genre / sub-genre
Genre is for the main aspect of your story, while sub-genre names the secondary aspect of the story. As an example, your plot is mainly about a murder mystery that needs to be solved, while two of the suspects also have romance that is given more attention then you should put Mystery as genre and Romance as the sub-genre.
- Action
This is for stories which are mostly action driven, meaning huge fighting scenes, chases and spontanious actions of the characters. - Adventure
This genre refers usually to characters striving to a specific goal, like finding a treasure, going on a trip, fullfilling a mission and so on - it usually is also action driven, but more purposeful. - Angst
If the story deals with one or more characters being in a situation that would make the readers spine crawl, like a character trapped in a disatrous situation he can't control, personal horror and the likes - Drama
For stories that bring the characters into situations of conflict, like having to make a decision and no matter what they choose something bad will arise ... - Horror
For those story designed to make the readers skin crawl, unlike Angst the feeling of horror can come from all aspects of the story - Mystery
The good old mystery story, where the plot includes a riddle, a murder or some other sort of question that needs to be answered. - Romance
A story that doesn't necessarily need to be a romantic one, when two or more characters are forming a very intimate relationship, may it be physcial, emotional or both - Thriller
For stories with a fast pace, most thrillers are heavy on action, but also have a lot suspense, plot twists and often enough leave the readers with cliffhangers - Conflict
This genre is for stories that have a huge emphasis on the personality of the characters. It can be only one character under the spot or several. - Humour
If the story is a parody, a silly nonsense drabbel, or full of puns and jokes, its all wrapped under this genre.
- Action
In Character level
These IC Levels are meant to give the reader an idea how well you handle the canons. The initial judgement will be given by you, but depending on reviews and public demand, the "level" might change.
- blurred vision
You are pretty sure, that the canon would not do certain things and have an idea what he might do in certain situations, but about everything else you are unsure. - clear grasp
This is when you are pretty sure you have gotten the canon right. Even though no writer will ever reach a 100%, but you think you have gotten close enough to that. - general spirit
You know think you got the canon nailed down pretty good, but you have the canon do things, he would probably not do in canon. (like it is often case when facing new situations) - in name only
A label for those character who are only recognised because after changing personality, often looks, too, the only think that indentifies the canon is the name.
- trying very hard
You have a worked pretty hard on making the canons true, but then at some points you have still doubts, but you are on the right way and worked on it. - uncertain
Put uncertain when you can't decide how well it worked out for you ...
- blurred vision

Story (text)
Here you put your story - if you are unfamiliar with html tags, let me give you a brief rundown of them.
- < br />
Ends a line, so if you want a line between your paragraph (as it is usually better to read) you put the tack twice at the end of a paragraph - < p> & < /p>
You can also use p to wrap up a paragraph instead of the < br /> tag, just put < p > at the beginning of the paragraph and < /p > at the end.
- < center> & < /center>
If you want to center your text, put < center> at the begining of the text portion
and end it with < /center> - < u> &
Put < u> at the beginning and < /u> at the end of a text part you wish to underline. - < b> & < /b>
For bold text put < b> in front and < /b> to end the part you wish to have in bold letters. - < i> & < /i>
Is for text you wish to have in italics, and as always but the start tag at the begin and the closign tag at the end. - < blockquote> & < /blockquote>
Using the blockquote tag, you get text that is padded left and right.
- < hr />
If you wish to create a horizontal line in your story, like for POV switches, changes of location etc. use this tag.
- < br />
End Notes
Here you also can put up thanks to beta-reader or what ever comments you see fit to put at the bottom of your stories.
